Angels are hands down my favorite supernatural beings, particularly because the common depiction of Angels is so far and away from their actual depiction. I love angels because of the juxtaposition these holy and righteous beings have with their appearance that is so terrifying and otherworldly that they literally introduce themselves with "Be not afraid." That was the inspiration for Raziel. There are no angels described in scripture that particularly resemble him, but I wanted him to have that same feel of holy purpose and monstrous terror. He is a veritable chimera of creatures, his singular eye is disembodied, he has tusks that look more like horns, and his fur is a deep, royal blue. Raziel is another design I made about a year ago, but I specifically wanted to revisit him to practice fur texture and layer blending. While that turned out nicely, I would say this is my best display of cross hatching yet.
